MORPC, Columbus 2020, and ULI Columbus retained the services of Calthorpe Associates, one of the nation’s most experienced planning firms, to help develop objective analytics that can assist local decision makers in evaluating and preparing for the impacts of our Central Ohio’s future growth and development.

insight2050 is a collaborative initiative among public and private partners designed to help communities proactively plan for development and population growth over the next 30+ years that is expected to be dramatically different from the past.

The first phase of insight2050 is a regional analysis that provides data to enable decision makers to understand the impact of future land use policies on specific factors that influence the region’s quality of life. The draft results of the first phase were released publicly for comment on November 5, 2014.

The initial report was driven by a private and public sector steering committee that assisted in developing three to four regional growth scenarios. The scenarios look at the type and general pattern of development, but not the specific locations in which it will occur.

These scenarios were informed by the latest data and projections and then compared utilizing a variety of metrics, such as land consumption, infrastructure costs, air pollution, household expenses for transportation and utilities, as well as public health and safety costs, to arrive at an assessment of their relative impacts.

MORPC Title VI Statement

As a recipient of federal transportation funds, MORPC agrees to follow US Department of Transportation requirements in regards to Title VI and civil rights. These requirements are outlined in the two “assurance” documents signed by the Chair of MORPC.

Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (42 USC 2000):

“No person in the United States shall, on the grounds of race, color, or national origin, . . . be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.” (US Department of Justice)

MORPC’s Non-discrimination Policies

As recipients of federal funds, the MORPC and their contractors, subcontractors, material suppliers, vendors, and consultants must:

Ensure non-discrimination in all of their programs and activities, whether those programs and activities are federally-funded or not. The factors prohibited from consideration as a basis for discriminatory action or inaction include race, color, national origin, sex, age and disability.

Provide Equal Employment Opportunity by not discriminating in employment based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, or disability.

Provide enhanced opportunities or remedial actions to persons, organizations, and institutions that have been historically subjected to discrimination through Affirmative Action programs.
